BACKWORKS was founded in 2024 by Doug and James with a shared vision: to make expert massage more convenient and accessible for everyday life.
After more than 15 years working in luxury spas across London, Doug recognised that many people were missing out on the benefits of regular massage because traditional treatments often felt time consuming costly, and complicated. Lengthy appointments, having to undress, oils, booking weeks in advance, and endless treatment options can make self care feel like hard work.
James has spent his career designing and managing safe, accessible outdoor spaces for vulnerable communities. Through his work, he developed a passion for removing barriers and creating environments that are welcoming, inclusive, and easy for people to access.
Together, they created BACKWORKS by stripping away the unnecessary fuss and focusing on what matters most: expert massage delivered by skilled therapists. By offering a carefully designed treatment menu, we're able to focus on a small number of treatments and deliver them exceptionally well.
Whether you walk in or book ahead, everything about BACKWORKS is designed to make wellbeing feel effortless.
Say hello to your therapists.

It’s very important to know why the client is having the treatment and their expectation as that will set the direction of how the treatment is conducted. Pressure is specific according to the client’s instructions however I always enquire during the treatment if more or less pressure is required assuring them that they are always in control of the pressure during the session.

My favourite thing about seated massage:
The treatment is fully clothed so that means it is an immediate start and finish. Oils are not used so there is no need for any fuss or allergen consultation.
My perfect day off usually includes…
Catching up with myself is just delicious. I am educating myself on how to be a mini farmer, growing vegetation on my allotment, and I am just loving it.
Comfort
My clients can expect a variety of pressure and pace tailored to their needs. I like to create a truly connected and grounded experience to aid that release of tension leaving clients lighter.

My favourite thing about seated massage
I love that clients can walk in and walk out feeling so much better because it's a convenient and effective option for them. It's a real privilege.
My perfect day off usually includes…
I love a slow Sunday roast type of day, full of long walks and reading a book in the pub and the occasional sticky toffee pudding.
Laura
Clients can expect a firm yet considered pressure, with clear communication throughout the session. I check in regularly and adapt my work to ensure the treatment is both effective and comfortable. My sessions focus on reducing tension, improving movement, and helping clients feel more at ease in their bodies.

My favourite thing about seated massage:
I love how seated massage allows me to work deeply and effectively in a short amount of time, using stretching and opening techniques to create noticeable results.
My perfect day off usually includes…
Going out with friends, looking for adventure, and eating good food.
Pasquale
Clients can expect a personalised session that blends deep therapeutic work with slow, mindful techniques. Outcomes may include reduced muscle tension, improved mobility, better circulation, nervous system relaxation, structure alignment and an overall sense of balance and renewed energy

My favourite thing about seated massage
Seated massage is efficient, accessible, and practical, requiring no oils or change of clothing. It allows clients to receive targeted, therapeutic work in a short time, often resulting in immediate tension relief, improved circulation, and enhanced mental clarity.
My perfect day off usually includes…
My ideal day off includes practicing Qi Gong and yoga, walking in nature, playing music, enjoying the theatre, sharing time with friends over a good meal, and unwinding with a relaxing spa experience.
Rina
Expect pressure that shifts from strong and vigorous to slow and gentle as needed. I communicate openly and chat lightly if your energy allows, otherwise keeping the space calm and peaceful. Clients typically leave feeling looser, deeply relaxed, and rebalanced.

My favourite thing about seated massage
Seated massage allows smooth work on the entire back and neck with the perfect pressure. The amazing chair adjusts to fit any body type, making each session highly effective, super convenient, and requiring no oil or undressing.
My perfect day off usually includes…
Spending quality time with my family or friends — or both. Simple, relaxed moments together that recharge me completely.
Hayat
Clients can expect a firm, focused, and results-driven session. I begin with a clear verbal consultation to assess tension patterns and goals, allowing me to integrate fascia work and combine various techniques for targeted, effective release.

My favourite thing about seated massage
I love how within a short session, clients often experience measurable relief in their shoulders, neck and back. I enjoy working with clients in an upright position as it makes it more accessible to everyone and allows me to address posture directly and targeted common tension patterns linked to desk work and daily stress. It’s incredibly rewarding to see someone stand up feeling lighter, more aligned and instantly refreshed
My perfect day off usually includes…
My days off often involve movement: long walks in nature, hot yoga, cycling or Pilates. And also, yummy food, I love trying out new recipes and cooking for people I love. Sauna, massage and anything self-care are also part of my wellbeing toolkit.
Why people keep coming back.
Walked in as a man in my mid 40's with pains in my back, arms and shoulders. After 30 minutes of massage, I feel I'm in my 20's again. I will return many times. Walk in, great service! The best money I've spent on myself for a very long time.

I’ve been to so many massage therapists over the past 15 years, and this was by far the best experience I’ve ever had.
I have a chronic condition in my neck and came by today for a chair massage. Comfort is a miracle worker. She helped me so much with her massage and stretches that I left a much happier person. The space is lovely too and very zen and welcoming.
